During harvest time, or properly speaking, a "cutting", bananas are laid with a special sponge so that they are not damaged during transportation to the packing station.
Machete is the tool, it is used in nearly every home in Costa Rica.

Of all the bananas, which got to the packaging station, only 5-6% do not pass the control. Unsuitable for the export fruit is sold in the local market.
Selection of fruit (in fact the division into clusters) is performed mainly by women.
